Les Pommiers

OUR STORY

In 2023, we, Brenda and Menno Giliam, embarked on perhaps the greatest adventure of our lives. We traded the busy Netherlands permanently for the beautiful and versatile Normandy, together with our dogs Ollie and Beau, and our tomcat Lodewijk.

We have been in love with the region for years and visited it regularly. Since childhood, Menno has had a passion for history, especially World War II. Brenda’s interests lie in burgundy life, Normandy products, French cuisine and the sea. After tying the knot, we quickly found this charming house and transformed it into an atmospheric guesthouse. Our dream became a reality. In March 2024, we opened the doors of our B&B and hope to welcome you here soon too!

OUR KITCHEN / TABLE D’HÔTES

In the morning, we pamper you with a delightful breakfast. We also serve a delicious meal on the day of arrival, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. If there is sufficient interest, we can even provide a three-course menu on request. Our dishes are always varied, alternating between fish, meat and poultry dishes, but vegetarian options are also available. Don’t forget to sign up a day in advance if you want to join us for dinner. While we cannot accommodate all dietary requirements and restrictions, we recommend contacting us in advance for minor adjustments. Thank you for your understanding!

Weather permitting, you can enjoy breakfast and dinner on our terrace or in the garden. On chilly evenings, the wood stove in the living room provides warmth and comfort. During the annual D-Day festivities (end of May/June), we create a country kitchen in the garden where you can enjoy delicious dishes prepared on the Big Green Egg barbecue every day.

JEEP TOUR

Perfect for history lovers and those with links to World War II: in our very own ‘War Room’, Menno will tell you, using maps and visual material, what happened around 6 June 1944. You will get a deeper insight into the events that led to the liberation of Europe. If desired, you can book a Jeep tour with us. Menno takes you in our authentic 1944 Willys Jeep along the most important locations in the Cotentin. This private tour will take you through the drop zones of the American airborne divisions, the villages with their stories, meet ‘Iron Mike’ and ‘John Steele’, visit Utah Beach, the Battery of Azeville, the Battery of Crisbecq and so much more… A Jeep tour is a unique and exciting experience that you won’t soon forget. You will marvel at the courage and sacrifice of the men and women who gave their lives for the freedom of Europe. But you will also feel the atmosphere and emotion of that historic day, while enjoying the beautiful countryside in Normandy.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to provide you with the ultimate Normandy experience. We want you to enjoy the region as much as we do, and then just a little bit more. Les Pommiers is in a unique location. Perfect for a trip to one of the many varied activities and sights, we will be happy to tell you more about the best places to eat and nice villages nearby.
