Les Pommiers

In 2023, we, Brenda and Menno Giliam, embarked on perhaps the greatest adventure of our lives. We exchanged the busy Netherlands permanently for the beautiful and versatile Normandy, together with our dogs Ollie and Beau and our cat Lodewijk.

For years we have been in love with the region and visited it with great regularity. From a young age, Menno has had a passion for history and in particular a keen interest in World War II. Brenda’s interests are in the field of burgundy lifestyle, Normandy, French cuisine and nature. Soon after we tied the knot, we found this charming house and transformed it into an atmospheric guesthouse.
Our dream came true, and we hope to welcome you here soon!

Les Pommiers d'Amfreville Brenda Menno

In the morning, we provide a delicious breakfast. We would also like to offer you the opportunity to have dinner with us in the evening. Every day you can sign up for an apéritif with appetizers in the garden or in the living room. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, we offer ‘table d’hôtes‘ with a three-course menu, and if there is enough enthusiasm we offer a ‘plat du jour’ or barbecue on the other days. We vary continuously, alternating dishes with fish, meat and poultry, as well as vegetarian dishes. Don’t forget to sign up a day in advance if you want to join our ‘table d’hôtes’. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate all dietary requirements and restrictions. For minor adjustments, it is best to contact us in advance to see if it is feasible for us. Thank you for your understanding!

Weather permitting, you can have breakfast and dinner on our terrace. On cold evenings, the wood-burning stove in the living room provides warmth and cosiness.
The days around the annual D-Day festivities (late May/June), we will set up a field kitchen in the garden where you can enjoy delicious BBQ dishes from the Green Egg or plats du jour.

Perfect for history lovers and those with links to World War II: in our very own ‘War Room’, Menno will tell you, using maps and visual material, what happened around 6 June 1944. You will get a deeper insight into the events that led to the liberation of Europe. If desired, you can book a Jeep tour with us. Menno takes you in our authentic 1944 Willys Jeep along the most important locations in the Cotentin. This private tour will take you through the drop zones of the American airborne divisions, the villages with their stories, meet ‘Iron Mike’ and ‘John Steele’, visit Utah Beach, the Battery of Azeville, the Battery of Crisbecq and so much more… A Jeep tour is a unique and exciting experience that you won’t soon forget. You will marvel at the courage and sacrifice of the men and women who gave their lives for the freedom of Europe. But you will also feel the atmosphere and emotion of that historic day, while enjoying the beautiful countryside in Normandy.

Our mission is to provide you with the ultimate Normandy experience. We want you to enjoy the region as much as we do, and then just a little bit more. Les Pommiers is in a unique location. Perfect for a trip to one of the many varied activities and sights, we will be happy to tell you more about the best places to eat and nice villages nearby.
